Old Is New Is Old Is Confusing
As much as I love things that are new and different, every now and then I just want to stick with the old standard. The old standard is around for a reason, and there is plenty of good that can come from going with what you know. In my case, I want a slight upgrade on what I already know because I’m looking for more control when blow drying my hair, but that doesn’t mean I have to pick something totally out of the box.
The BaByliss Pro BAB2000 Ceramix Xtreme Dryer does not have a lot going for it aesthetically, but that’s just because it is busy looking. That being said, it has an upgrade in the form of a ceramic grill that helps you get the ions you need into your hair so you can smooth things out as you go.
Other Improvements on Old Standards
Even though it’s just a simple black dryer, it does have something else going for it that puts it ahead of other options (slightly). Instead of just being plastic, it is covered in a rubberized coating that makes it easier to hold on to. I’m as clumsy as it gets, so anything that will help me grip the item I’m using is a plus in my book especially when it’s hot.
Sputter and Stop
Even though this has the perks of being a standard kind of dryer, it also has some of the issues that are common with them. It can just stop working after a fairly short period of ownership.
I’ve read many customer reviews and there were just a few too much that say it stopped working. Whether it stops blowing hot air or it stops working all together, it doesn’t really matter. Either way, you’re without a dryer that you paid money for even if it was only $40.
Not Made like They Used to Be
Whether it looks tried and true or not, it’s safe to say things are not made now the way they were before. I have dryers that still work and are older than my middle school nieces and nephews! It’s pretty frustrating that it is getting harder and harder to find that kind of quality.
That being said, the majority of customers were positive and didn’t mention reliability issues, and given the price and perks of this hairdryer you may still want to give it a shot.
