Rusk Speed Freak Professional Blow Dryer Review

So Much Power And Speed It Will FREAK You Out

I’ve never been a fan of the word “freak” because I think it’s a pretty negative term. That being said, every now and then there is a use for it and I think I’ve found it here.

The Rusk Speed Freak Professional Ceramic Tourmaline Hair Dryer has the name because it’s freakishly fast at drying hair. In fact, it’s a whopping 2000 watts of fast drying!

Fine For Fine

This is something that never comes up for me because I have such thick hair, but I do know it’s hard to find the right dryer for fine hair. My mom has that problem. She has healthy hair but its very fine so she can’t use a lot of heat on it. The Speed Freak gives you the amount of control you need so you get nice smooth hair without overdoing the heat.

Good For The Thickness

What really grabs my attention is this dryer can get your hair straight and smooth no matter how thick it is. Right now, when I dry my hair with a blower I have to use a flat iron afterwards because if I don’t it ends up a frizzy ball of sadness. If I could skip the straightening step that would be a major coup and it would save me a ton of time.

True Test of Tourmaline

The innards of the iron are lined with tourmaline which may be what gives it the ability to get hair as straight as it does. Tourmaline is actually a gem stone that helps trap moisture into the hair which in turn, makes hair smoother without causing frizz. Moisture outside of your hair makes it big, while moisture inside your locks keeps it under control.

Moves Quickly So You Can Too

People with the thickest hair can get it dry much faster when working with this blower. In that way it really has earned its name. I don’t feel so bad using the word “freak” in reference to this device because it really works well beyond what I would expect a regular dryer to.

Pushing Buttons Will Push Your Buttons

One of the more annoying things about this dryer is that even with all of that power the design isn’t the best. The buttons that get used to control speed and heat are right under your hand, so when you’re using it you can accidentally change the settings. You could be trying to very delicately get a style into your hair and hit the button without realizing it. All of a sudden, your hair is at the highest of heats and your putting way too much pressure on your strands. While this isn’t a huge deal, it’s not a good one either.

Is It Worth The Quirks?

Overall, this dryer turns out to be capable of everything that it says it is, and I’m totally on board for what it can do. I know it’s not perfect, but I don’t sit around and wait for perfect (as it doesn’t exist). I take what’s in front of me, and I make it work.
