Salon Sundry Sit-Under Hood Dryer Review

Little Bo Peep Doesn’t Have Her Sheep… Or A Bonnet Like This

When I was a kid I used to go to the salon and sit forever while my mom got her hair done. She went every week to at least get it washed which didn’t take too long. But, every so often she would get something super fancy done and sat for what seemed like hours under the dryer. I didn’t mind because the ladies there filled me with candy and sodas before sending me home, but I have distinct memories of the gigantic dryers my mom would sit under FOREVER! So imagine my wonderment when I found out you can get those massive dryer-like-things AT YOUR HOUSE. I wonder how much money that could have saved my mother over my entire childhood (and my adult life too).

The Salon Sundry Professional Bonnet Style Hood Salon Hair Dryer is one of those options that sits on top of your head and dry’s from above. To me, it looks like a mix between a hair dryer and a space suit!

Dry Your Curls In A Snap

As someone who is always on the hunt for perfect yet easy to get curls, I like that you can put a ton of curlers in your hair and still fit your head under this machine. This is a big deal for those of us who want to style without having to stand in front of the mirror for hours with a curling iron. I would love to be able to put curlers into wet hair and sit under the dryer with my computer while my hair LITERALLY does itself.

All Heights May Apply Inside

I’m a small person, like 5 foot 2 inches on my TALLEST of days. My sister-in-law on the other hand is pushing 5 foot 10. I have done her hair a bunch of times, and I always thought we would never be able to share a dryer like this one because we differ so much in height. However, the adjustable pole clears all that up because it’s made for the vertically challenged like me and regular height people like her. Problem solved!

Set Your Hair By Setting Your Heat

Unlike a lot of older style bonnet dryers you have plenty of options open to you with respect to the heat level. It didn’t occur to me these would have different settings, but it makes sense they do. I know my blow dryers have different controls on them, so why wouldn’t this too? If you’re willing to wait a little longer, you can set it on a low heat so you’re less likely to get too hot under the hood. That’s flexibility added to the “tick list”!

Set It And Forget It

You can set the timer for up to 60 minutes so you don’t have to watch the clock. That’s a pretty good perk. I’m famous for forgetting to set timers unless it’s right on the device, so this helps me a whole lot.

The only real concern I have about this dryer is the sturdiness of the pole it comes with. Even though it is adjustable, it’s not exactly the toughest material. The dryer is actually pretty heavy, so I would expect to have something a whole lot more substantial to hold this beast up in the air. That being said, there aren’t a lot of reports of it toppling over, so maybe they’ve figured out the perfect formula.

Bringing The Bonnet Into The 21st Century

When I think of a bonnet, I think of Little Bo Peep and her sheep. Although this is called a bonnet it’s definitely not for a farmer. It’s for someone who wants great hair without having to work too hard for it. I’m on board for that. The price is lower than a lot of comparable products so that’s good too, but you do get what you pay for. You aren’t going to get perfection, but you’ll get pretty close for only $100 or so.

If you’re ready for touch free hair that doesn’t really interfere with all the things you have to do, push the button and drop it into your cart.
